William Hugh Stroyan

Hugh is survived by his wife of 63 years Nora and his four children; David (Wendy), Douglas (Leah), Margaret (Dave) Swartz, Derek (Kamini); five grandchildren – Christine (Norman) LaVoie, David Swartz, Angel Stroyan, W. Lee Stroyan, Michael Stroyan; six great grandchildren – Danielle, Derek and Joelle LaVoie, Angeline, Dayton and Natalia Myles; his sister Patricia Clark, nieces and nephews and cousins.

He is predeceased by his parents Arthur Leon and Beatrice Agnes and his brother-in-law Duncan Clark.

Hugh has had many passions with family first in a list that includes – Rugby, Swimming, woodworking, black powder shooting, Scuba diving, hunting, painting, gardening and a love of family history. Hugh attended Lord Byng High School in Vancouver and served as boys counsellor at St. Nicholas Anglican Church and Camp Arteban. Hugh is past president of Prince Charles Elementary School PTA (Surrey) and the Fraser Valley Rugby Union. Hugh was a founding member of the Twilighter Over 40 Rugby Club and the Burnaby Lake Rugby Clubhouse. The annually presented “Stroyan Cup” is presented to Fraser Valley Junior Rugby Champions in his name.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Wednesday, June 10, at 2:00 pm at St Dunstan’s Anglican Church, Aldergrove, BC, with a reception to follow.

The family extends their appreciation to the staff of Abbotsford Regional Hospital – Acute Care Elder Unit.
