

Services celebrating his life will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Broadview Baptist Church with Lupe Gonzalez officiating. Interment will follow in Abilene Municipal Cemetery. Visitation and prayer service will be held on Monday evening from 6-8:00 PM at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home 5701 US Highway 277 S. in Abilene.
Tony was born on January 17, 1953 on a ranch Rancho Jesus Maria, Municipio de Cedral, San Luis Potosi, Mexico to the late Jose Santos Moreno Zavala and Gorgonia Gonzalez Zavala. He grew up in Mexico and at the age of 21 migrated to the United States. Tony initially lived in Dallas and then to Abilene where he met his ex-wife, Nora Rodriguez. After marriage, they began their family and moved to Houston. In the early 80’s the family settled back in Abilene. Tony was a hard worker and worked in several different industries. He had a natural knack for working with appliances and fixing things. Most people will remember him for repairing many lawn mowers and trimmers. He also enjoyed amateur aviation anything that could fly really captured his attention.
Tony loved his family and enjoyed creating special memories with them. He had a natural love for music and no family event was complete until he pulled out his acoustic guitar. He was a man of faith going back to his days in Mexico where he had the privilege to share the Word with others. He continued in serving in various churches throughout his life many times playing music. He also played in a couple bands throughout his life. He loved all his family and that love only grew as he had grandchildren he truly lived for them.
He is preceded in death by his parents; baby son Joshua; siblings Gabino Zavala Gonzalez, Rodrigo Zavala Gonzalez, Angel Zavala Gonzalez, and Estela Zavala Gonzalez.
He is survived by his children Priscilla Robles, Anthony Zavala, Martha Zavala, Antonio”ChiCho” Zavala, Jr., and Daniel Zavala; grandchildren Alexis, Emilio, Liliana, Joel, Annalysia, Courtney Lynn, Hayden, Clara and numerous other grandchildren; siblings Mateo Zavala Gonzalez, Juan Zavala Gonzalez, Juan Francisco Zavala Gonzalez, Rosa Maria Zavala Gonzalez, Leoncio Zavala Gonzalez, Hugo Zavala Gonzalez, Moisès Zavala Gonzalez, Nicolasa Zavala Gonzalez, Dina Elizabeth Zavala Gonzalez, and Esther Zavala Gonzalez; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Zachery Diaz, Stephen Jimenez, Juan Zavala, Jr., Gabriel Gonzales, Jr., Joe Gilbert Zavala, and Emilio Pequeno.
