Betty was born on August 6, 1957 in Abilene to the late Martin and Estella (Escamilla) Casarez. She was a loving single mother who worked hard to provide for her children, grandchildren, and whoever needed help. She was very caring, kind-hearted, giving and loving. Betty’s home was always filled with laughter and love from her children and grandchildren. Her home was always opened to anyone that needed a place to stay, whether it be for the night, weekend, a month or even longer. Tia Betty’s was the place to be on the weekends.
Betty also loved to babysit her nieces, nephews, and friends’ kids. Her place was the place to be on New Year’s for her grandchildren and for the kids she would babysit. She would throw them a party and stay up all night with them. She lived her life to the fullest and helped out so many people and family. No matter if it was the last penny she had, she always found a way to help.
Betty was preceded in death by her father Martin Casarez, grandson Rudy “Baby J” Casarez, brother Danny Casarez, sister Brenda Casarez, nephew Steve Casarez, Jr., and a great-nephew Jefferey Gray, II.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her children, Michelle Silva and husband Julian, Jason Casarez, and Cassi McClain and husband Justin; her grandchildren, Jazmin, Julian Jr. “Memoo”, Joseph and Diana “Pumpkin” Silva, Jason, Yesenia, Aliah and Jayln Casarez, Bryson and Justin Jr. “JJ” McClain; her mother, Estella Casarez; brothers, Steve Casarez and wife Elsa, and Ralph Casarez; sisters, Anna Cruz and husband Jose, and Stella Hernandez and husband Jose; and a number of nieces, nephews, several great and great-great nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends.
