

Celia Ann Hummel, 51, died Sunday, May 1, 2011, at Hendrick Medical Center due to complications from leukemia. A memorial service will be held at 2:00p.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at Minter Lane Church of Christ, 2502 Minter Lane with Albert Acosta officiating under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory, Abilene, Texas.
Ann was born June 13, 1959 to Raymond J. and Leoma D. Peterson in Dallas, TX. She graduated from Duncanville High School in Duncanville, TX in 1977. She lived in Arlington, TX and worked as a police dispatcher for the University of Texas at Arlington until 2003. She moved to Abilene, TX in 2004 and worked as a dispatcher for the Abilene Police Department and several other customer service positions. She was a member of the Minter Lane Church of Christ. She enjoyed family, friends, animals, cooking and camping.
Survivors include three children, Kristen Hummel of Denton, TX, Jonathan Hummel of Abilene, TX and Timothy Hummel of Mertzon, TX, brother and sister-in-law Terry and Barbara Peterson of San Angelo, TX and brother and sister-in-law Dempsey and Terri Peterson of Abilene, TX, four nephews and two nieces.
Memorials may be sent in lieu of flowers to an education fund for her children in care of the Minter Lane Church of Christ, 2502 Minter Lane, Abilene, Texas 79603.
