Claude Vernon Thomas, Jr., 49, passed away Friday, September 3, 2010 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Wyndrock Baptist Church with Ernie Kight officiating. Burial will follow in Cottonwood Cemetery, near Cross Plains. Visitation is 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy 277 South.
Born in Gorman, Texas, February 17, 1961, Junior (as he was known by friends and family) was the son of Claude Vernon Thomas, Sr. and Fannie Mae (Wyatt) Thomas. Junior loved his church. He was much loved and will be missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his father, Claude Vernon Thomas, Sr. Survivors include his mother, Fannie Mae Thomas of Abilene; brother, Sam Thomas of Abilene; three sisters, Verna Calhoun of Abilene, Belva Cleveland of Desoto, TX, and Glenda Washburn of Hawley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Corby Andrews, Wade Calhoun, Lewis Washburn, Jerry Cleveland, Kelley Harbin, Patrick Harbin, Kody Waggoner and Wendell Dunlap.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sears Hospice or Wyndrock Baptist Church.
