Danny Martinez

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 6, 2010, at St. Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church, with Father Terry Brenon officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory. Serving as pallbearers will be Art Siller, Ray Castillo, Randy Castillo, Doyle Rice, Clarence Penns, Patricio Hernandez, Richie Garcia, and Nicholas Garcia. The family will receive friends at a rosary at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Danny was born October 2, 1973 to Eva (Rodriguez) and Rafael Martinez in Abilene, Texas. He graduated from Abilene High. Danny was employed by the Abilene Independent School District at Johnston Elementary School for 15 years and currently worked for Hendrick Medical Center. He loved to spend time with his nieces and nephews whom he adored. Danny liked to play pool and won several trophies. He was a Catholic.

Danny was preceded in death by his grandfather, Manuel Garcia and uncle, David "Sonny G." Castillo.

Survivors include his parents, Ralph and Eva Martinez, of Abilene; his grandmother, Mary Garcia of Abilene; two brothers, Eric Martinez and wife, Angelica, of Abilene and Chris Martinez and wife, Tammy, of Abilene; two nephews, Eric Martinez and Christopher Martinez; three nieces, Erica Martinez, Chelsea Martinez, and Aubree Rios; and his aunt, Lina Castillo of Abilene.

The family would like to thank all of the staff and friends at Hendrick Medical Center for their love and support; also, a special thanks to the ICU Nurses and the Hendrick Hospice Nurses for the compassionate care they provided.
