

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2010, at Community Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 1443 North 2nd Street, Abilene, with Cody Cochran officiating. Burial will follow in Hawley Cemetery, directed by Community Memorial Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at a visitation 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
David was born August 16, 1946 to Charlene (Cameron) and Herman Leroy Funk in Cals, New Mexico. He served his country in the United States Navy and was a Vietnam veteran. David married Martha Gonzales. He worked for Payless Lumber Company for 15 years. David was a mechanic for the majority of his life, working for 13 years for NuCorp. He liked to fish and read and loved to play with his grandkids. David's favorite hobby was playing his guitar and singing. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
David was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Martha Funk of Anson; two daughters, Kimberly Williams and husband, Donald and Vicki Jones and husband, Calvin, all of Anson, Texas; grandchildren, David Ray McCollum, Odessel Funk, and Lorenzo Williams; three sisters, Sandra Stevenson and husband, Harry, of Tye, Texas, Shelia Decker and husband, Jim, of Abilene, and Pat Cook of Bridge City, Texas; and a host nieces and nephews.
