David Allen Hale, our brother, friend, and uncle passed from this world on February 27, 2016 at the age of 64. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy. 277 South, Abilene, Texas with burial following in Albany Cemetery. David was born April 17, 1951 to Nig and Betty Hale in Big Spring, Texas. Growing up he lived in numerous West Texas towns; Columbia, Argentina, and Carencro, Louisiana. Before he graduated from high school in 1970, David was working for Guiberson Oil Tools in Lafayette, Louisiana. After graduation, he first moved to Odessa, Texas and then later to Weatherford, Texas, where he continued working for Guilberson for many years. After one too many oilfield busts, he became a cross country
truck driver. He drove a truck until his dad passed away in 2005 and he made a solemn promise to Pop, his dad, to look after his mom. David was a caregiver until she passed away in 2013. David never married and had no children of his own. He loved his nieces and nephews as if they were his own and took immense pleasure in them. David was a simple man but quite a character. He loved good food, gun collecting, and was an avid hunter. The friends he made were few but very dear to him and he considered them the best of friends. David is survived by his sister, Jan Moore and husband, David; sister-in-law, Shelli Hale; nieces and nephews Matt Hale and wife, Christy, Cassie Foster and husband, Collin, Lacy Moore, Kelly Breakie and husband, Trent, and Kevin Moore and wife, Sammy; and precious great-nieces and nephews, Kimmie, Michael, Waylon, Sophia, Addy, Elliot, and Taylor.
