

Denny was born in Seminole, OK on May 21, 1930 to WM Turner and Lucille Turner. He graduated from Wister High School, Wister OK, on May 21, 1948. Immediately after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He retired from the Air Force in August 1975 after 28 years of honorable service. He was awarded “The Bronze Star Medal” in May 1970 for meritorious service in Southeast Asia.
Denny married Carolyn (Kestner Risley) on January 19, 1969 in Great Falls, MT. They spent almost 40 great years together. He was a loving husband and father, a kind and caring friend and devoted servant of our Lord. He always tried to do his best. Although there were a few failures he kept on going.
He was preceded in death by his darling wife, Carolyn; his son, Edward; his great grandson, Tristen; his parents and three brothers, Roy, Frank and Doyle.
He is survived by four daughters, Belinda Sue Findley of Ruidoso, NM; Deborah Werner of Satellite Beach, FL; Cynthia Carter and husband, Ken of Athol, ID; Pamela Whitlock and husband, Herbert of Orange, VA; a son, Robert Risley and wife, Barbara of Lansing, MI; fourteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
There will not be a visitation at the funeral home. Services will be conducted at St. James United Methodist Church, 3100 Barrow St, Abilene at 1:00 PM Tuesday, February 18, 2025 with Rev. Curtis Cadenhead and Rev. Stephania Gilkey officiating. Interment will be at Elmwood Memorial Park under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. James United Methodist Church at 3100 Barrow, Abilene 79605.
