Don Earl Brooks

On Friday, February 7, 1958 in Abilene Texas a baby boy was born to the parents of Ike & Alma Brooks. They named him Don Earl, better known to his caregivers as Donnie however, faithfully referred to as Don Earl by his siblings. Don Earl was the 6th child born to this union.

Don never had the opportunity to attend any formal school. At the age of 8 he commenced to receiving life care, learning life skills and rehabilitation at Abilene State School. One of Don’s caregiver while a resident of Abilene State School was his oldest sister Martha L Wolfe. He resided there till the age of 39, whereas he was discharged to living in a community group home. Don last residence was at the Boston House group home administered by Hill Living Resources. Don’s primary caregivers for the past 11 years were Syreeta Shellman, Rachel Mitcham, Devina Solis, Sophia Solis, Tony Cate, Terri Thomas, Michelle Bryant, Suzy Morales, Samantha Crabtree and LVN Leah Stone. The Brooks family are eternally grateful for the care you provided our brother.

On Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at the age of 63, God saw fit to remove Don from his earthly labor to a heavenly labor. Enduring no more pain or trips to the hospital. God said, “It’s time to come home my son”.

He is preceded in death by his parents Ike and Alma; two sisters Martha Wolfe & Vanessa Betford; two brothers Sammy Brooks & Marvin (Ben) Brooks
