Doris Alene Kitchens, 92, of Abilene, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 in Abilene. She was born on September 10, 1932 in Roby, TX to the late Loyd Rogers and Elsie Hertenberger Rogers. Doris grew up in Roby where she worked hard on the family farm. In December of 1954 she married Jesse F. Kitchens in Roby. He preceded her in death in 2003. She was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church in Abilene since 1974 and enjoyed activities with “The Chicks” in her Sunday School Class.
She is survived by her two children, Wayne Kitchens and wife Rita and Susan Seider and husband Sam; grandchildren, Chad Smith and spouse Vanessa, Bryan Kitchens, Justin Seider and spouse Sanja and Shelby Fulford and spouse Gage; great grandchildren, Nick Seider, C.J. Seider, Scarlett Fulford and Easton Fulford.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church in Abilene with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM officiated by Dr. Jeff Reid. A graveside committal service will be at 2:00 PM that afternoon at Roby Cemetery, Roby, TX.
The family would like to thank the staff at Stonewall Living Center in Aspermont and Hendrick Hospice Care for the outstanding care that Doris received.
