

Edith Braune Beaird (90) departed our physical world Wednesday, May 15, 2013, in the Hansford County Manor in Spearman, TX. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 20, at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy 277 South, with Billy Sellers officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home. Visitation will be Sunday, May 19, at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, Hwy 277 South, from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m.
Edith was born October 12, 1922 to Arthur Christ and Fannie Harrison Braune in View, TX. She attended Hillside & Butterfield schools and graduated Abilene High in 1940. As a young woman, she attended business school. Edith proudly graduated Cisco Jr College in 1986. Edith married Henry Marvin Beaird, Jr. on December 23, 1944 in Abilene. Henry preceded her in 2006. Edith and Henry lived in various places that included Alaska & France due to Henry being in the Air Force. They brought great stories from their extensive travels. After Henry’s discharge from the service, they resided in View, TX.
Edith was employed in the Dyess Air Force Base personnel department and retired in 1981 with 31 yrs. of federal civil service. After retirement, she worked part-time at View Industrial Products for Don & Glenda Weaver. Edith was a long time member of the View Baptist Church serving as church clerk & assistant treasurer 1968-1988. Edith and Henry were founding members of the View Volunteer Fire Department. She served as president of the auxiliary 1979-1990. Sadly, after Henry’s death, Edith was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Since then she has resided in an Abilene facility and most recently in Spearman, TX near her niece, Wanda.
Edith was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry; and brother, J.C. Braune.
Edith is survived by her brother Alvin & wife, Lillie Braune of View; sister-in-law, Veriena Braune of Granbury; Nieces-Kathy Braune of San Antonio, Cindy (Rex) Braune Bell of Granbury, and Wanda (Darrell) Braune West of Spearman, TX; Nephews-Brad Braune of San Antonio, Glen Braune of Merkel; Grand Nieces-Jessica Braune of Abilene, Randa Braune of Houston, Chelsea Braune of Stephenville; and Grand Nephew-Trevor Braune of Stephenville.
The family thanks the Hansford County Manor for the care and love she received in her last months.
