Frances Diaz

Frances G. Diaz, 79, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2013, in Abilene, Texas. Funeral services will be 10:00a.m. today, Tuesday, September 24, 2013, at Community Memorial Funeral Home, 1443 N. 2nd St., Abilene. Burial will follow in the Abilene City Cemetery, directed by Community Memorial Funeral Home.

Frances was born on April 10, 1934 to Carmen Guajardo and Maria Sanchez in Mission, TX. She had been in the Abilene community since 1955 and worked in the nursing industry for 22 years. Frances had worked for West Texas Medical, Hendrick Medical Center, and Coronado Nursing Home.

Preceding her in death were her parents; a son, Opie Cerda; a daughter, Maria Hernandez; and a brother, Lupe Guajardo.

Survivors include her seven sons, Juan Cerda and Ernestina, Earnesto Cerda and Teresa, Leo Cerda and Lori, Arturo Cerda and Becky all of Abilene, Martin Cerda and Celia of Baird, TX, Jessie Cerda and Josie Cabrera of Ft. Worth, and Jose Cerda and Berta of Abilene; two daughters, Carmen Salinas and Juan of Austin, TX and Stella Diaz and Steven King of Ft. Worth, TX; one sister, Alica Beltran of Washington, TX; and 101 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
