Frank Benton Gensheer, 63, left for his heavenly home on Thursday, September 25, 2014. Funeral services will be at 11:00a.m. Friday, October 3, 2014 at View Baptist Church, 250 Boynton, Abilene with graveside services beginning at 2:00p.m. in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy 277 South. Visitation will be Thursday, October 2, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00p.m. at the funeral home.
Frank was born on December 21, 1950 in Durango, Colorado. After graduation he joined the US Navy. He met and married the love of his life, Ruth while stationed in El Paso, Texas. They lived all over the United States during his enlistment. He retired from the Navy in May of 1990.
After retiring from the Navy, Frank and Ruth made their home in Richmond, California, where he went to work for Lawrence Livermore Laboratories. He retired from there in 2003. He and Ruth moved to Abilene, Texas in 2009 and built their dream home together. Frank became a member of View Baptist Church in 2011, and was strongly committed to his church family and the Lord.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth; his brother, Mark S. Gensheer and family; his sisters, Gloria Diane Parrish, and Wendy Hope Kennedy and their families; numerous in-laws; many nieces and nephews; and by his church family.
