Gerard Louis Messier

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 5, 2011, at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with Joel Toby officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home.

Jerry was born June 18, 1941 in Torrington, Connecticut to Louis Messier and Rita LeMire and lived in New Bedford, Massachusetts until moving to Abilene in the early 1980's. He married his wife, Mary Jo, on February 13, 1993 and was a member of Elmwood Baptist Church and a member of ABA. Jerry enjoyed bowling; visits back home; Colorado; and the beach. He loved spending time with family and friends. Jerry was always there for anyone in need. He will be forever loved and missed.

Jerry was preceded in death by his step-father, Babe LeClair; sister, Doris Rita Messier; daughter, Kim Alice Messier; and brother-in-law, Joe Lambur.

Survivors include his parents, Louis Messier and Rita LeClair; his wife, Mary Jo Messier; dog, Bailey; son, Troy Messier; daughters, Sherry Mills and husband, Chris, Brie Messier, Jana (Jarry) Talavera and husband, Juan, and Tonya Baucum and husband, Darel; grandchildren, Aspen, Kellie, Payton, Ryan, Dillon, Garrett,Dalton, and Melanie; great-grandchildren, Avery, Kylie,Connor, Kasan and Ethen; sister-in-law, Dorothy Lambur; brothers-in-law, Danny Reeves and wife, Janice and Randy Reeves and Iris; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
