

Gladys Gaston, 82, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2012, at a local nursing facility. Funeral services will be 11:00a.m., Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at Broadview Baptist Church with Pastor David Cason officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory St. Visitation will be Tuesday evening, January 17, 2012 from 5:30p.m. to 7:00p.m. at the funeral home.
Gladys was born on April 22, 1929 in Potosi, TX to Asa and Mary (Franklin) McKee. She was raised and attended schools in the Potosi and Wylie school district graduating from Wylie High School in 1946. She married Lawrence Gaston on June 8, 1947 in Abilene.
Gladys was a homemaker who loved quilting, gardening and square dancing. She was an avid square dancer and was a member of the A-Team & Wagon Wheel Squares where she and her husband were past presidents. Gladys loved her family, especially her grandchildren and was a member of Broadview Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents; a daughter, Kathleen Gaston; three brothers; and three sisters.
Survivors include her husband Lawrence; a son, David Lawrence Gaston of Hawley; a daughter, Gloria Gaston Johnson of Plano, TX; three sister-in-laws, Goldie Foster and Frances Mckee, both of Abilene and Jean Pace of Kalispell, Montana; and three grandchildren, Erika Johnson of Plano, and Jennifer and James Gaston, both of Hawley.
