She was a member at Second Baptist Church in Abilene for over 40 years that she truly loved. She was creative, energetic, and always searching for something to keep her busy. Crocheting was her passion. She also delivered for Meals on Wheels for many years. Her homemade chocolate cake, banana pudding and dressing were specialties. For many years, she sang for the "elderly" at Coronado Nursing Facility. She drove capably until she was 94 years of age. She graduated from the Bayou School in Callahan County and enjoyed reunions through 2013.
She was also caring and compassionate with a "heart" to give and a "passion" to serve others.
A visitation will be held from 1 to 3pm on Sunday, June 3, 2018 in the Elliott-Hamil Chapel of Memories, located at 542 Hickory Street, with a funeral service beginning at 3pm. She will be buried at the Admiral Cemetery next to her beloved "Walter" along with many other relatives that have gone on before. For 13 plus years, she has been looking forward to a reunion with him in heaven. Lorene was a realist who took one day at a time and did not fret about the small stuff. She did not worry about her life because she was confident in her relationship with God.
