Jo Ellen Rogers

Jo Ellen, age 87, passed away peacefully November 2nd at her home. She was born October 3, 1933 in Jollyville, Texas, to the late William and Marguerite Ellen Cook. Upon her passing, Jo Ellen was reunited with her loving husband Thomas P. Rogers and beloved daughter Kathy Ann Rogers.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, November 6, 2020 at 10 AM in Elmwood Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Elliott Hamil Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM on Thursday, November 5, 2020 at Elliott Hamil Funeral Home Chapel, 5701 US Hwy. 277 S, Abilene, TX 79606.

Jo Ellen was a long time member of First Christian Church in Abilene, where she was active in the Christian Women’s fellowship and involved with the Perry Sunday School Class. She loved being active in the community by being involved with the Women of Rotary and the Red Hat Society in both Abilene and after moving to Lubbock.

Jo or also known as “Mama Jo” loved the outdoors including spending time with her husband and family at their lake cabin on Lake Coleman. She also enjoyed gardening, being a mother, and cheering on her grandchildren and great grands at all sporting events and activities. She also enjoyed playing with her most recent great grands.

Those left to cherish her memory are children; Sandra Peterson of Lubbock; Truman Rogers and wife Denise of El Centro, California; Patricia Ellen Plowman and Husband Joe of Lubbock.

Grandchildren include Scott Peterson and wife Jennifer; Shawn Peterson and wife Mallory; John-David Plowman and wife Anicia; Mary-Katherine Ellen Arias and husband Clinton; Bill Rogers and wife Lauren

Great Grandchildren include Bentley Peterson, Wyatt Peterson, Royce Peterson, Oliver Plowman, Calvin Arias, and Emily Ellen Plowman.

In Lieu of Flowers, donations may be made to the First Christian Church Building Fund.
