Joan Lee Hicks, 73, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2014 in Weatherford, TX. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Elliott-Hamil Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy 277 South, Abilene, TX. Interment will follow in the Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6:00-8:00p.m.
Joan was born on March 15, 1941 in Manchester, CT to Alexander and Phylis Tedford. She married Alan R. Hicks on August 23, 1957 and lived in El Cajon, CA until 1979 before moving to Abilene.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Alan R. Hicks; her son, Richard Hicks; her grandmother, Helen Haden; her mother, Phylis Frost; her step-father, Edward Frost; and her sister, Sandra Johnson.
Survivors include her brother, Craig Tedford and wife Betsy of Tye, TX; her sister, Nina Arnold and husband Charlie of Haltom City, TX; her daughter, Debra Potts and husband Chris of Abilene, TX; her sons, Steven Hicks and wife Lisa of Azle, TX, Robert Hicks and wife Misty of Abilene, TX, and David Hicks and wife Kathy of Springtown, TX; her 23 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Make A Wish Foundation or Alzheimer’s Association North Central, 301 S. Pioneer Dr., Ste. 105, Abilene, TX 79605.
