

A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 7, 2013, at Church of the Heavenly Rest, Episcopal, 602 Meander, Abilene, with David Romanik and Luke Back officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory, Abilene.
Joseph was born August 30, 1926 to Joseph Alban Wolaver, Sr. and Sarah Mae Derick Wolaver in Lemoyne, Pennsylvania. He served his country in the United States Army and the United States Air Force, retiring from the military after 20 years of service. After his military service, Mr. Wolaver was the owner operator of Hilltop Truck Stop in Abilene for 20 years. Joseph enjoyed volunteering and cooking at Bob’s Breakfast on Beech Street. He was a member of Church of the Heavenly Rest, Episcopal. Joseph will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Clinton, Charles, Bub, and Ronnie; a sister, Romaine; and a grandson, Josh.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Wolaver of Abilene; two sons, Mike Wolaver and wife, Terri and David Wolaver, all of Abilene; a daughter, Blanche Wolaver Bounds and husband, David, of Fort Worth, Texas; a brother, George Wolaver of Pennsylvania; five sisters, Garnetta Kimble, Wanda Wolaver, Suzanne Peirce, Judy Shelley, all of Pennsylvania and Linda Raker of California; grandchildren, Paul Joseph Bounds of Houston, Texas and Caroline Wolaver of Jacksonville, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Blanche Jerige, a special friend; the entire staff of Integracare Hospice; and to volunteer, David Kaufman.
