Kandy Gaines

Kandy Gaines, 47, of Abilene, passed away on April 3, 2013. Funeral services will be 2:00p.m., Saturday, April 6, 2013 in the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory St. with Pastor Oren Rake officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory St. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6:00 to 7:00p.m. at the funeral home.

Kandy was born on July 7, 1965 to Walter Jacob and Jane (Johnson) Brooks in Clovis, NM. She moved to Abilene in 1978 and had attended schools in Clovis and Abilene. Kandy was a devoted mother and had a great love for her grandchildren and her dog, Ripper.

She was preceded in death by her father, Walter Brooks.

Survivors include her mother, Jane Blackburn of Abilene; her son, Daniel Shane Salinas of Big Springs, TX; her daughter, Amber Burke and husband, Christopher of Weatherford; her sisters, Carolyn Holliday and husband, Donald of Conroe, TX, Polly Fish and husband, Nolan of Clovis, NM, Judy Carpenter and husband, Tom and Sandy Brooks and husband, Joel all of Weatherford, TX; a brother, Jeff Collier of Mountainburg, AR; and five grandchildren, Cherish, John, Little Bear, Noah, and Jahsiah.
