He graduated from Eula High School in 1965 and continued to be a Eula Basketball fan until he passed. In 1977 he co wrote a song with David Allen Coe.
He married the late Louise Margaret Hall and they later settled in Michigan where Louise was from. Lonnie worked many years as a truck driver before retiring. After his wife’s passing he moved back to home to Abilene to help with the care of his mother. Lonnie and his family have been longtime members of Belmont Baptist Church.
Lonnie will be remembered for his quiet nature and his love for family. He enjoyed the maintaining close ties with his family, especially his siblings and making memories at the numerous family gathering that were held over the years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Margaret Hall Dearman; his father, Ray Nathan Dearman; his mother, Helen Lambert Dearman; his younger brothers, Donnie and Van Dearman; and his niece, Meagan Lee Dearman.
He is survived by his beloved sister, Judy Glossup and her husband Henry; his sister-in-law, Kaye Dearman all of Abilene; uncle, Scott Lambert and his wife Gloria of California; aunts, Lou Ryan of California, and Martha Robberson of Kansas; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family will gather privately to remember him. Memorial contributions can be made in his name to Belmont Baptist Church 2117 Palm St, Abilene, TX 79602
