Mary Ilene Summers

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 11, 2013, at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Highway 277 South, Abilene, with Jubal McDaniel and Chris Cavitt officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home. Viewing will be during normal business hours 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mary was born in Deshler, Ohio to Michael Nelson and Mildred Cleo Hill on May 10, 1930. She married Merle Lynn Summers on November 1, 1948 in Angoli, Indiana. He preceded her in death in 1992. Mary was a very loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and will be missed by all. She was a volunteer at both Hendrick Medical Center and Abilene Regional Medical Center. Mary also volunteered at the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Michael Hill, Albert Hill, and Melvin Hill and two sisters, Marcille Bryan and Mildred Clark.

Mary is survived by her three children, Sheryl Nicholson and husband, Tommy, of Bonham, Mitchell Allen Summers and wife, Glenda, of Liberty Hill, and Kim McDaniel Parker and husband, LC, of Buda; nine grandchildren and their spouses; sixteen plus one on-the-way great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Myrna Chapman of Florence and Myrtle Critz of Florida.
