Norma Ruth Jones

Norma Trantham Jones, 80, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at her residence in Abilene, TX. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 12, 2013, at Broadview Baptist Church with Burtis Williams, David Cason, and Wes Terry officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory St. Visitation will be today, Wednesday, December 11, 2013 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Norma was born on January 20, 1933 in Abilene, Texas and was a lifelong resident of Abilene. She graduated from Abilene High School in 1951 and on October 25, 1951 married the love of her life, Robert Milton Jones. This year, they had celebrated 62 years together.

Norma had been employed for a number of years by several local banks performing duties in the bookkeeping and proofing departments. She was also a former teacher of piano in Abilene for several years and was a member of Broadview Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Harrell Everett and Ruth Newberry Trantham; a sister, Barbara Ann Trantham Mayes; and an aunt, Fay Robins.

Survivors include her husband, Robert M. Jones of Abilene; a cousin, Rachael McAdoo of Houston; and a number of nieces and nephews.
