

Percy was baptized at an early age in the name of Jesus Christ and served him faithfully until her death. She was loved and respected dearly by her family, friends, nurses, doctors, and all who knew her. She was a positive shining light who was always smiling and laughing, even at her own self sometimes. She had a big heart and a gentle soul. She loved life and lived it as Christian.
She was born on July 30, 1924, to Vernon and Thelma Ownby, who preceded her in death along with her sister, Dorothy Soward, and brother, Vern Ownby. She married Jack B. Stegall, on February 23, 1941. They were married for 60 years prior to his death in 2001.
Surviving is her daughter, Sue E. Cornelius of Austin, TX; son, William S. Stegall of El Paso, TX; grandsons & sons, Davie R. Mankin, II of Conroe, TX, Paul M. Mankin of Austin, TX; and sister, Geraldine Monahan of Redding, CA. She also leaves numerous nieces and nephews.
Percy worked at the Timex Watch factory, also as a Hair Stylist, and was in retail for several years.
The family visitation is scheduled from 6:00-8:00pm on Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory Street, Abilene, TX 79601. The funeral service will be conducted by evangelist, Mike Bonner, at 433 Grape St., Abilene, TX 79601, Church of Christ on Friday, May 2nd, 2014 at 11:00am. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home.
