Ramona G. McBride

Ramona McBride, age 76, was born in Bryan, Texas on June 17, 1944 to Joe Garcia and Abigail Villegas Garcia. She left this world for her heavenly home on December 26, 2020 surrounded by her family.

Ramona graduated from Waco High School and soon proceeded to beauty college to begin her career in cosmetology. She was the strong, loving mother of six children. She met and married the love of her life, Chuddie McBride, when she lived in Hamby, Texas. Together, they moved to Abilene and raised her children until he went to his forever home ahead of her. She was a devoted grandmother to 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Ramona lived her life fully. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, fishing at Lake Leon, dancing, knitting, sewing, crocheting, and cooking.

She relentlessly loved her family with her whole heart. No matter what the situation, she never gave up on her children or grandchildren. She loved them, pushed them, encouraged them, and prayed for them through every circumstance. She celebrated their joys and endured their sorrows. She was very strong in her faith, always reminding her kids and grandkids of God's grace and mercy with everyday life lessons. These lessons many of them still live by today.

Ramona is survived by her daughters: Geana McLendon, Mellisa McMahon and husband Edward McMahon, all of Abilene, and Angelina McLendon of Ft. Worth, Texas and one son: Chad McLendon of Abilene. She is further survived by her sister, Rachel Carpenter of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, 14 Grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chuddie McBride, two children; Charlene McLendon and Garnett Ray McLendon, Jr; her granddaughter, Aireal Denea McLendon, and her father Joe Garcia, and mother and stepfather, Abigail and Charles Miller.

Ramona will always be remembered for her tenacity, wit, charm, grace, undying love and care for all who were around her. She leaves a powerful loving legacy she passes on to her children and grandchildren as they carry her memory with them.
