

Raymond was born March 31, 1938 to Vladimir “Bill” Konecny and Frances Mikeska in Sheldon, Texas. Raymond had two siblings Gladys Konecny McRae and Leroy Bill Konecny. In 1956, Raymond joined the Navy and shortly thereafter married Dorothy Adelle Haley, with whom he had four wonderful children, Raymond, Larry, Wade, and Nancy.
While in the Navy, Raymond was a tail gunner in a Neptune aircraft stationed in Japan, Hawaii, and Corpus Christi, Texas. Throughout his lengthy careers, Raymond was considered a jack of all trades, working as a welder, in electrical construction, carpentry, farming, and finally retiring as an OSI security guard at 81. Raymond continually planned, formulated, and designed a continuum of projects until his passing, always tinkering with creative thoughts, always trying to make something better.
Proceeded in death by his parents, Bill and Frances Konecny, sister Gladys McRae, brother Leroy Konecny and great granddaughter Jordyn Paige Dupuy. Survived by his son Raymond Konecny and wife Laura, son Larry Konecny and wife Jayna, son Wade Konecny, daughter Nancy Sherman and husband Kevin, and son Edward Gordon and wife Helen. Raymond had numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly.
Beloved mother, Dorothy Adelle Haley Konecny passed away October 1, 2021 at the age of 83, surrounded by loved ones in Abilene, Texas.
Adelle was born September 8, 1938 to Clarence Melton Haley and Dorothy Marie Young Haley in Brownwood, Texas. Adelle had one sister Vauda Anelle Haley Shipley. In 1956, she graduated from CE King High School, outside Houston, Texas in a community known as Sheldon and shortly thereafter married high school sweetheart Raymond John Konecny in 1956, with whom she had her four beautiful children, Raymond, Larry, Wade, and Nancy.
Adelle was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She spent the majority of her time caring for her family along with earning her cosmetology license in 1970. Her favorite pastimes included baking her family’s favorite Czech recipes: most loved were her poppyseed strudel and kolaches. She was a fabulous seamstress in the early years, sewing most of the family’s clothing, formals, and wedding dresses.
Proceeded in death by her parents Clarence and Marie Haley and sisters Anelle Shipley and Jordyn Paige Dupuy. Survived by her husband Raymond Konecny Sr., son Raymond Konecny and wife Laura, son Larry Konecny and wife Jayna, son Wade Konecny, and daughter Nancy Sherman and husband
Kevin. Adelle had numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she adored immensely.
Raymond and Adelle Konecny will have a combined graveside funeral service at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene, Texas on January 19th at 2 pm.
