

Jesus took the hand of Rita and took her to Heaven on Thursday, April 14, 2016. He took a sweet, beautiful soul that had been sick for about three years with an uncommon disease, Parkinson Syndrome, MSA-A. Rita (Cope) Brown was born on August 25, 1943 in San Angelo, TX to Robert E. Cope and Mary J. Cope. She attended S.F. Austin Elementary and San Angelo High School. She made her career owning and operating a beauty shop and later moving to Coldspring, TX where she owned two very successful boutiques, "Rita's Boutique" and finally building another home to retire in Whitney, TX. Rita married the love of her life R. Lee Brown on July 25, 1961.
Preceding her in death were her parents; and a daughter, Michelle Antoline. She is survived by her husband, R. Lee Brown; her son, Buster (Robert Lee III) Brown and his wife, Shinobu of Japan; grandchildren, Calvin Brown, Summer Brown, Bodey Brown, Patrice Mitchell, and Kai Brown; two great-grandchildren, Killian and Evelyn Mitchell; a brother, Robert E. Cope II and his wife, Vicki; and a sister, Joy Sankey and her husband, Lyle. Rita had two wonderful sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Freddie and Sylvia Beal and Riley and Roberta Walker; and she had several nieces and nephews that she adored.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00a.m. on Thursday April 21, 2016 in Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy 277 South.
