

Ruby Mae Eager, 99, passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2012, in Abilene. The family will have a visitation on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at the Merkel Church of Christ Family Center from 11:00a.m. to 11:45a.m., with a private family graveside service being held later in the afternoon under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory St.
Ruby was born January 5, 1913 to Francis Marion and Mary Louise Parsons Johnson in Elmdale, TX. She married Clyde Eager on June 1, 1929. They lived and Hamby and farmed until 1941 and then moved to Merkel. When her husband left for WWII, she had to run the Purina Feed Store in Merkel. Clyde passed away on July 6, 2000.
Ruby also worked as a bookkeeper for Ezell Key Feed & Grain in Big Spring, TX. She was a wonderful, giving, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Ruby was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; one sister, Rae; three brothers, O.C., F.L., and Bill Johnson; and one granddaughter, Patti.
Survivors include two daughters, Faytene Stevens and husband, James of Abilene and Clydene Jones and husband, Doyle of Conroe, TX; two grandchildren, Mike Perry and wife, Pam of Garland and Tana Wade and husband, Bruce of Conroe; six great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Merkel Church of Christ, 700 Ash St., Merkel, TX 79536.
