Sally Ruth (Williams) Dennis of Abilene, passed away on Christmas, December 25, 2010, at the age of 74. Sally was born to Charles H. Williams, Jr. and Ruth (Parrish) Williams on October 19, 1936 in Wichita, KS. She was the 2nd child of 8 children who are as follows: Charles H. Williams, III, Linda Beth Williams Dowdy, David Timothy Williams, John Van Austin Williams, Jimmy Williams, Mark Parrish Williams and William Lee Williams.
Sally spent time growing up in KS, CO, MO, IL, TX and even Greenland. She graduated from Harlendale H.S. in 1954 in San Antonio, TX. In the fall of 1955, Sally went to Central Christian College (CCC), now Oklahoma Christian University. She met her future husband, Erick Dennis at CCC. Sally married Erick in San Antonio on December 31, 1956. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2006. They made their home in Oklahoma until moving to Abilene in 1972. During their life together in Abilene, they attended Southern Hills, 16th & Vine and Highland Church of Christ.
All of their children graduated from Cooper H.S. and all but one met their spouses in Abilene. Sally worked full time for Abilene Christian University for 18 1/2 years as office manager/secretary in several different departments. During this time, 5 of her children also attended ACU in which she took much pride. She later worked professionally for 6 years in HR for TDCJ at the John Middleton Unit before retiring with special recognition in 1998. In retirement, she worked as a part time clerk at Goodwill Industries and Check & Cash.
The family especially wants to thank her daughter, Susan Placencia, and her family for their great sacrifices in caring for Sally in her later years as Sally courageously endured many medical conditions that she fought well beyond any prognosis she had been given. Just one of the many testimonies of strong faith and service planted in the hearts of all her children, Sally’s greatest joy and desire seen fulfilled: that they all know Jesus. “O Holy Night” was one of her favorite songs to honor Christ’s birth. And He chose this night for her to return to Him. Sally was one of the greatest example of the greatest examples.
She is survived by: daughter, Cindy M.
