Sue Byrd, 77,of Abilene, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at her home in Abilene after a battle with cancer and heart disease. She was born on May 18, 1948 in Abilene to the late Clifton Ross, Sr. and Melba Ruth Ross. Sue retired from Texas Instruments where she worked for many years.
She is survived by her son, Gilbert Odell Hunt of Abilene and a daughter, Diane Jones of Clyde; two grandsons, Larkin Jones of Clyde and Colby Jones of Clyde; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Clifton Ross, Jr. and a sister, Joye Horrell.
A visitation will be held from 6:00-7:00 PM on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 US Hwy 277 South in Abilene. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday, January 23, 2026 at the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park.
