The curtain came down and his lively spirit was released on March 5, 2025 at Joseph Brant Hospital. I asked my dad what he wanted in his OBIT. He said to keep it simple like "I lived, I died". Well because he basically left it up to me, this is what he's getting. My dad was a farmer, trucker, inventor, builder (he designed and built our cottage in Haliburton), a joke teller, a performer but best of all, a wonderful father and grandfather. He loved the performing arts and to entertain. He was involved in community theatres in Burlington and Hamilton both on and off the stage. He was best known for his role as Mr. Chairman at Drury Lane that he did for almost a decade. He loved telling jokes and could remember every punch line. A couple of years ago he started a one man comedy show where he would go to retirement homes and put on a show. All funds raised were donated to Food for Life. He was an active member at CARP and enjoyed helping out on fish fry night at the Legion. He loved to travel and explore places off the beaten path and always had interesting stories to tell of his adventures.
He leaves behind me, his daughter, two grand daughters and 5 great grandchildren. His spirit will live on in our memories.
Following his wishes, there will not be any type of service, but well wishers are encouraged to raise a glass of your favourite spirit and make a toast in his honour, to remember him in your own way and with a cheers.
