

It is with great sadness that the family of Joan Waldie-Jenkins announces her passing November 7th, 2011 in her 91st year. Joan Frances Wall was the loved mother of: David Waldie (Patricia), Lynn Medland, Duncan Waldie (Vera) and Lillian Waldie-Lawson (Chris). Cherished grandmother to Dan Medland, Dana Totty, Chris Waldie, Mike Waldie, TJ Waldie, Sarah Waldie, Keiran Lawson and Aidan Lawson. Great-grandmother to Ethan and Evan Totty, Dawson and Natalie Medland and Leighton Waldie. Sister to Charles Wall, Alice Brush, Dave Smith, Robert Smith, Catherine Aylward (Smith). Predeceased by brother Dennis Smith and
son-in-law Ernie Medland. Predeceased by husbands: Wilfred Waldie (1978), Alex (Pat) Waldie (1989) and the Rev. Emrys Jenkins (2008).
Fondly remembered by step-children: Helen Williams (Tim), David Jenkins (Donna) and step-grandchildren: Sarah, Sam and Sophie.
Joan will be remembered for: her Rest Home, for starting the Acton Food Bank and her many years of community service. She was a foster mother to 58 children for the Children’s Aid and with Emrys was a host parent to many Rotary Youth Exchange Students.
The family will receive friends at The MacKinnon Family Funeral Home “Shoemaker Chapel”, 55 Mill Street East, Acton on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
The Legion Tribute will be at seven o’clock.
The funeral service to celebrate Joan’s life will be conducted by the Rev. John Bedell at Churchill Community Church (Churchill Road at Halton/Erin Town Line) on Thursday, November 10th at one o’clock.
Interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery
