Marion was a devoted wife of Rev. William Crumplen (predeceased) and dearly loved by her children, Hugh (Carol), Martin (Rena) and Susan (predeceased), her grandchildren Heather McConnell (Matt), Connor (Stephanie), Mark (Natasha), Damon (Josie), great grandchildren Charlie, Lena and Brody.
Marion will also be missed by her many friends at Knox Presbyterian Church in Acton, her friends in London, ON, childhood friends in Northern Ireland, Birkdale Retirement Home and anyone that happened to own a friendly dog in the same park.
Marion was a trained engineering draughtsman who emigrated from Northern Ireland to the United States at the age of 21. Not long thereafter, Marion married the love of her life and settled down in North Carolina as a minister’s wife. Sadly, a car accident claimed the life of her daughter and husband leaving Marion widowed with two young sons at the age of 27. Seriously injured but undeterred, Marion moved back to Northern Ireland with Hugh and Martin. It wasn’t long before “The Troubles” made life in Belfast an unsafe place to raise her sons and she again decided to emigrate, this time to London, Ontario. Marion was homesick for Ireland but always made choices that prioritized her sons.
Throughout her life, Marion was an avid knitter and loved to make blankets, hats and sweaters for every baby she came across. Marion also loved to teach children and new Canadians how to read and write. In later life, her greatest joy came from any activity or sport that her grandchildren and great grandchildren were involved in. Marion leaves behind a legacy of devotion to her family and will be lovingly remembered.
A memorial visitation will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church 44 Main St N, Acton, ON L7J 1W2 on Saturday, November 1st, 2025 from 10:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. with a memorial service following at 12 noon.
