Nina Soros (née Berestovenko) passed away peacefully in her 86th year on Tuesday May 21st 2024, at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. She was a loving wife and best friend to the late Julius Joseph Soros (1984).
Nina was born in Ukraine and immigrated to Canada in 1951 with her family. Nina loved walking, needlepoint and was an excellent seamstress, baker and cook. She loved being a wife, a mother and keeping a lovely home. Nina’s strong faith in God helped comfort her throughout the challenges in her life, which ended at the Allendale Long Term Care facility in Milton. The love and support of all the staff at Allendale during her time there was more than evident and appreciated.
Nina is survived by her daughter Connie Soros (Mark Pottruff), grandchildren Caroline and Matthew Pottruff and sister Valentina Berestovenko.
Predeceased by her father Nikolas, mother Vera, brothers Victor, Henry and Anthony. Nina will be missed by her nieces, nephews and friends.
Those wishing to honour Nina’s memory may do so if they wish, by making a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society.
A funeral service will be held at Mackinnon Family Funeral Home, 55 Mill St. E, Acton on Saturday May 25th, 2024 at 1:00pm. Interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Georgetown.
