Stepfather to Tracy, Sheila and Karen Zandri; step grandpa to 11 with many step great grandkids.
Special uncle to many, especially to nephew Dwayne Robertson and nieces Stacey and Stephanie Greenwood.
He fell for an older woman, married her, adopted one of her children, then became a Grandpa at 28. It takes a special man to be such a devoted grandpa at such a young age. Born to raise hell and vandal visibly tattooed on him, along with a long history of riding and crashing motorcycles, hinted at an interesting and rebellious youth. He was in the army but was mysterious about his times there. He celebrated his birthday on April 10, then found out in his 60's that he was actually born on April 2. He went by Monty, then Ray, depending on when you had the pleasure of meeting him. He liked a bit of mystery and could be very serious, but a cold beer could bring him out of his shell and expose his great sense of humour. He worked hard and loved deeply. He always enjoyed making kids laugh and he was the kind of person that really showed up for people he cared about. A devoted fan of the Toronto Maples Leafs, he was often sporting apparel to support his favourite team, to cheer and to smack talk. While we will miss him, he has a whole crew of loved ones waiting for him on the other side.
Predeceased by parents Jack and Jacqueline (Junkin) Brown, brothers Randolph, Lawrence and Gary Brown, stepchildren Michael McKenzie, Leah Zandri, Robbie Zandri, grandsons David and Jeremey Laundry and Richard and Terri Lumley, and great grandson Ryder Brown DeBoer.
We were blessed to love him and be loved by him. We miss him so much already!
A celebration of life will take place on Sunday April 26, 1-4pm at the Royal Canadian Legion in Acton.
