Ron is fondly remembered as a kind, quiet gentleman who cherished the beauty and peacefulness of nature while patiently birdwatching, training little chipmunks with peanuts, boating, camping, and snowmobiling. Ron enjoyed collecting and restoring vehicles, like his '34 Terraplane, '53 Canadian Military Jeep, and from the year of his birth, a 1938 restored fire truck that has seen many fire calls and parades, which he is generously donating to the Canadian Fire Fighters Museum in Cobourg, ON as a legacy gift.
A lifelong bachelor, Ron was embraced by his brother Ray's family in Guelph, his beloved Mowbray Place neighbours over many years, his adored forever friends, many work pals at BP Canada, and all the like-minded folks who enjoyed his company in the various clubs to which he belonged. Kind-hearted Ron also shared a special connection with his Double Happiness restaurant friends, even donating his time driving them to important appointments and events. Most recently, Ron was blessed to find a new home and yet another family, quickly making dear acquaintances at Eden House Retirement Home. Ron is predeceased by his parents William & Miriam, infant brother Kenneth, and his brother Raymond (2022).
Ron was also a true hobby enthusiast, and his particular passion for all things Trains spanned decades. His indoor and outdoor tracks, trains and model railway communities were a sight to behold! As the Conductor on the tracks of his life, Ron was "full steam ahead" for a long while, making countless stops in all sorts of interesting places and meeting wonderful people at each station. He traversed the hills, valleys, rails, and bridges and took in all the meandering, beautiful scenery. Although his health at times went "off the rails" along the journey, like a trusted locomotive, he always managed to get "back on track,” most recently, these last few wonderful weeks. He may have reached the "end of the line" on this earth, but he will be fondly remembered by all those whose lives he has touched. Ron Holloway, may you Rest in Peace.
A visitation will be held at Mackinnon Family Funeral Home 55 Mill Street East, Acton L7J 1H4 on Saturday October 10, 2026 at 9am, with a Funeral service to follow at 11am.
