Beloved husband of Florence Amelia Bowen (Nee Cortese) 77 years. Cherished and loving father of Wendy (Ralph) Nellis, Paul, Ralph (Lindsey Sperzel) and daughters in law Leona, and Kim. Predeceased by his sons Wayne (2012) and Mark (2016) and his wife Lina (2003).
Proud grandpa of 15 grandchildren: Mark (Susan), Laura, Krystina, Tyler, Michael, Curtis, Meighan (Eric), Melissa (Ryan), Ryan, Joshua (Amy), Nathan (Amy), Caitlin (Jeff), Matthew (Michal), Alex, Gordon (Maggie) and 30 great-grandchildren: Emily, Ella, Rachel, Riley Bentley, Mason, Avery, William, Wayne, Hudson, Oliver, Walter, Mia, Luca, Leo, Lennon, Makayla, Maxwell, Abagail, Oliver, Brody, Jude, Millie, Stanley, Bowen, Oliver, Violet, Korbin, Camille, and Miles. Dear brother-in-law Bernice Felton (Bud, dec) and the late Hilda Orsini (Bob, dec). Brother of Allin (Linda) Bowen.
Born in Toronto where he met his beloved wife, Florence. Began his professional career as a painter following his proud service with the Canadian Army, during the Second World War. Moved to Acton with his parents, working on their dairy farm. Got started in real estate, eventually opening his own office in Guelph, most notably with lifelong partner and friend George Zuccala. Built his family dream home in 1958 in Crewsons Corners where he raised his five children. Followed his passion for farming, raising a herd of beef cattle and growing a variety of crops. Had many other passions including hunting, fishing, dancing, travelling, playing his organ and listening to jazz.
A Legion Tribute will be held at Mackinnon Family Funeral Home 55 Mill Street East, Acton L7J 1H4 on Thursday October 1, 2026 at 11:30 am, Visitation to follow from 12pm - 1pm , and a livestreamed funeral service at 1pm. Reception at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 197, 15 Wright Ave, Acton, L7J 2T7 from 2pm-5pm.
