Stella Brunelle (nee. Klapchuk) died January 12, 2025, in the exceptional care of her “Angels” at Kensington Gardens, Toronto. Born on August 22, 1928 to parents William and Anna Klapchuk (Zaharuk) in Kapuskasing, where she was educated before attending Belleville Business College where she graduated in ’47. She returned home to work as a secretary at the Kap Pulp Mill, and she met her husband Sam Brunelle on the Kap tennis court while he was visiting family. They married in ’49 and moved to Acton where she and Sam managed the family’s Station Hotel into the ‘60s. They built the family home on Acton Blvd and had 4 children: Beverley, Christine, Steve and Paul. Sam died suddenly at the age of 45, and Stella was left to raise her children. She returned to school, retrained, and worked at the medical clinic and several local businesses before retiring at the age of 60. Stella focused her love and energy on her family, and all the local friends she cultivated through her activities and her children. Stella’s home was always an open house full of unconditional love! Stella worked tirelessly on the initial committee to save and preserve the Acton Town Hall, she volunteered at the Legion, loved badminton and tennis, and curled into her 80’s. She loved Acton!
Stella was predeceased by her parents, her husband Samuel, and her sisters Mary Swanick and Olga Carter. She leaves behind her 4 children: Beverley Tennant (John), Chris Colero (Larry), Steve (Carol McKenzie), and Paul, her 8 grandchildren: Kelly (Ryan), Carmen (Aaron), Casey (Mercedes), Julie (Nick), Sandy (Brita), Samuel (Jenn), Joe (Heather) and Gillian (Tom) and her 22 great grandchildren: Sam, Leo, Ryder, Levi, Willow, Myles, Weston, Talan, Hayven, Maria, Liliana, Salma, Calla, Huxley, August, Stella, Boz, Igneous, Jasper, Orson, Lake, and Elodie.
We pass you into the hands of the Lord. May you lovingly reunite with those awaiting!
