Bill was a devoted, loving husband to Pat Ward-Buston, creating 42+ years of happy memories and lots of treasured learning experiences.
He is survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law: Betty Ann Hie (Ronald), Helen Griffiths (David), Wayne Lawlor and Derek Stapleton. Nieces and nephews: Michael Griffiths, Tracy Laughton, Lisa Hie, Erin Bell, Colleen Lawlor, Clint Lawlor and Bradly Lawlor.
Predeceased by his mother Jennie (Crandon) Buston, father John Wesley Buston (aka Chief), sister-in-law Ledon Lawlor and nephew William Hie.
Bill was loving, generous, and very kind to all his family and friends. One could describe him as courageous, resilient, and protective of us all with his quiet strength. He was certainly a people person as demonstrated in his choice of career. He spent 30 years at Canada Trust as a seasoned banker and 20+ years as a mortgage broker! He helped people accomplish their dreams and in solving their puzzles called LIFE.
He was a problem solver and our "go to" husband, uncle, brother, brother-in-law, and friend. His brilliant mind either figured things out OR he knew exactly where to get the answers quickly!
Bill had a great sense of humour and on the fun side of his life, he loved the outdoors: hunting, canoeing, fishing, and just being out in the bush! Along with his love of nature, he was knowledgeable on the animals and their habits.
Over the years, Bill had become an accomplished gardener with his famous pepper squash crops, which he shared with family, friends and the local church. He was very proud of his squash crops and enjoyed being part of a sunflower competition each year with his sunflower friends, John and Ted.
Bill was always considerate of people's feelings, and he never complained about his health or wellbeing. In fact, for years his response to the question, "How are you doing?" was, "Damn near perfect."
Bill was loved and respected and he will be missed dearly by family and our extended family of friends and neighbours.
A private Memorial Service will be held in early May, followed by a Celebration of Bill's Life.
Memorial donations may be made to the Sunnybrook Schulich Heart Program (heart function clinic), The Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of your choice.
