Fred Wesley Layfield

Fred was a Private for the United States Army from December of 1966 until his Honorable Discharge in April of 1967. Following his service, he was an avid member and supporter of the American Legion Army & Navy Club. Prior to his retirement, he was a truck driver and mechanic for Ryder Corp. He was known to enjoy watching television, caring for his yard through gardening and landscaping, and spending time with family.

Fred is survived by his son Dwayne Layfield (Andrea); his daughter Amanda Layfield; and his son John Layfield; his granddaughter Kayla, his granddaughter Amber, his grandson Ray, his grandson Alex, his grandson Owen, his great grandson Kayden, and many nieces and nephews.

Fred was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Layfield (née Conrad); his son Elizie Simons; his father Emerson Layfield and his mother Blanche Layfield (née Rexroad); his brother Paul; his brother Lloyd; his brother Harold; his brother Bernard; his sister Marry; his sister Effie; his sister Ada; his sister Leona and his sister Sarah.

A funeral service for Fred will be held Monday, May 12, 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:15 PM.

Fred will be laid to rest in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd, Seville, OH 44273.
