Homer Cary Chambers was born on December 13, 1936 in Columbus, Georgia, the Fourth child of James Chambers and Sarah Lilly Chambers (Stokes).
Homer was a graduate of Max Hayes High School in Cleveland, Ohio in 1954, and later became an employee at The White Motor Company, The United States Postal Service, and finally Cleveland Metropolitan School System where he retired after 30 years.
Homer married Lillian Carter (who preceded in death) on January 28, 1957. To this union 4 children were born: Deborah (Elijah Whitten), Rosalind (Dana DePina), Michelle Bryant, and David (Jackie Chambers).
Homer accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior at an early age and attended New Sardis Primitive Baptist Church where he was the Dean of the Warren Bible Institute. Finally he was a member of The Church in Elyria, Ohio.
He is survived by his brother Melvin Chambers and sister Essie Williams; by his daughters Deborah (Elijah) Whitten, Rosalind (Dana) DePina, and Michelle Bryant; and his son David (Jacqulyn) Chambers. He also leaves his grandchildren: Elicia Whitten, Rachel Whitten, Rashinda Reed, Brandi Chambers, Hattie Whitten, David Chambers, Jr, Sonja Flewellen, Briana Bryant, Gabrielle Bryant, Bethany Chambers, Ashley Chambers, Anthony DePina, Roshelle Reed, Zachary Severance, and Ze'qari Severance; and a multitude of great-grandchildren.
Friends may call 11AM-1PM Friday, April 24, at the Rose Hill Funeral Home, 3653 W. Market St. in Akron. The funeral service will begin at 1PM, burial in Rose Hill Burial Park.
