Kathryn L Blair

A wonderful thing happened on January 17, 1946 in Barberton, Ohio, Guelola Dawn Curley gave birth to Kathryn Curley. Eugene Curley, Sr and Guelola Dawn Curley raised Kathryn (aka Kay) and her brothers (Michael, Eugene Jr., John, William) and sisters (Frances, Shelly) in Portage Lakes, Ohio . When she was 14 years old her mother died and she assumed the responsibility of taking care of her younger brothers and sister while their father worked to support the family.

Kathryn gave birth to seven children (Dennis, Jeffrey, Kimberly, Dawn, Anitta, Wendie, Oscar). She also accepted and loved the children of her husband, Oscar Blair (Leroy and Linda) and was considered “momma” to her niece, Angel. She truly loved her biological and extended family and would do whatever she could to be supportive of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, loved ones and friends.h

Kay loved God, life, and people. She was a member of Gospel Temple, where she was baptized, sang in the choir and assisted in the office. She worked at Edwin Shaw Nursing Home as a Licensed Practical Nurse for many years until she retired. Kay enjoyed swimming, music and arts and crafts

Kathryn Blair lived a full life despite health challenges and on October 14, 2023, Kathryn went from labor to reward. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Michael, John, Patrick and Robert. She leaves to mourn her passing, her sons, Oscar, Dennis, Jeffrey and Leroy; daughters, Wendie, Anitta, Dawn, Kimberly, and Linda; sisters: Frances, Shelly, and Dawn; brothers: William and Eugene Jr.; grandchildren: Nicholas, Timothy, Richard, Steven, Tonitta, Starla, William Ramon, Diamond, Richard, Alysya, Jasmine, Justine, Cody, Cory, Cierra, Chantale, Brianna, Stephen, Brooke, Ronald, Demetrius, and Tedra; 40 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Friends and family may come to call on Thursday, October 26, 2023 from 12-1 p.m. at Rose Hill Funeral Home, Akron, Ohio. A Home Going Service will follow at 1 p.m. Inurnment at Rose Hill Burial Park.
