

Kitty Han, age 87, passed away on January 4, 2025. She was the beloved wife of Chang Dae (also known by his baptized name, Paul) Han who preceded her in death. Kitty was born in Pyongyang, Korea, and during the Korean War, Mrs. Han’s family escaped from the North Korean regime to South Korea.
Kitty graduated from Moo Hak High School and then received a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Spanish Literature from the Foreign Language University in Seoul.
Kitty met Paul in 1960 in Seoul and later that year, Paul was accepted to the graduate program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Kitty and Paul married in January 1962 at St. Cecilia Church in Boston. Upon Paul’s graduation from MIT, Kitty & Paul relocated to New Jersey.
During Paul’s long and distinguished academic career at Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn and then at the University of Akron, where he taught and conducted research until his retirement in May 2012, Kitty was a constant source of support.
She is survived by her son Peter (wife Kathy), son John (wife Luisa), daughter Cecilia and five grandchildren, Patricia, Christopher, Stephanie, Stephen and Cameron.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025 from 2:00 PM. to 6:00 PM at Rose-Hill Funeral Home, 3653 West Market Street, Fairlawn, OH 44333. The funeral service will occur Friday, January 10, 2025 at 11:00 AM, 3653 West Market Street, Fairlawn, OH 44333.
