Following high school, Richard enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps, and became a 2nd LT. Bombardier. His plane was shot down over Germany, where he was a POW for 16 months and 3 days. He and his family owned the A-1 Tire Shop. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbarine (nee: Halstead) who passed away, October 30, 2003, and by his 11 siblings. He is survived by his sister, Mary Ellen Robinson, of Tawas City, MI, many nieces, nephews and their families.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Monday, October 31, at the Catavolos Funeral Home, 3653 West Market St. Fairlawn, where family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Entombment will follow at the Rose Hill Mausoleum. The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
