Betty Jean Banks

Mrs. Betty Jean (Baldwin) Banks, age 78, of Albion, Michigan departed this life on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at Borgess Hospital, Kalamazoo, Michigan. She was born July 14, 1942 in Lee County, Alabama to Sam and Willie (Edwards) Baldwin. Betty graduated high school at the Sanford High School, Opelika, Alabama. Betty married John B. Banks on April 25, 1964, in Albion, Michigan. Their union was blessed with two children, Jaekel and Christopher.

Betty was a member of Lewis Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church for many years. She retired from Albion K-Mart after twenty-two years of service and was employed with Albion College for two years. Betty enjoyed playing softball in her early years, playing Bingo, playing cards and enjoyed the company of family

and friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John B. Banks, eight sisters; Callie Winfield, Mary Baker, Ethel Mohead, Minnie Freeman, Margie Chambers, Willie Bessie Baldwin, Dorothy Clark, and four brothers; Allen Baldwin, Levi Baldwin, Robert Baldwin, Isiah Baldwin.

Betty leaves to cherish her memory: a daughter, Jaekel Banks, Albion, MI, a son, Christopher Banks, Adrian, MI; seven grandchildren, Christopher II, Asiana, Brooklyn, Jacelyn, Jada, Lennox, Sapphire; one great-granddaughter, Amiri; a sister, Ella (Baldwin) Fears, Salem AL; one sister-in-law, Imogene Parker, Lansing, MI; two brother-in laws, Lonnie (Margaret) Banks, Lansing, MI, Otis Banks, Lansing, MI; many nieces and nephews, a host of other relatives and friends; a special son, Jessie Cook; special daughters, Lynette Embry, Lashonda Davis, and Stephanie Mastin.

Gathering of Family and Friends Hour will be held at 10am on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Dr., Albion, MI 49224.

Funeral Service will follow at 11am on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at the funeral home.
