Born in Logville, Kentucky as the youngest son of Florence and Frank Caudill’s ten children, Cliff spent his early working years as a coal miner in Mingo County, West Virginia. In 1954 he and Justine moved to Albion, Michigan where he was hired at the Albion Malleable Iron Works, known locally as “The Malleable.” He worked at the Malleable until his retirement from the Finishing Department in 1986.
Cliff and Justine were happy parents of three children, Jennifer, Warren, and Karen. They loved their family, dancing, gardening, traveling (including two cruises and a trip to Hawaii), and the life they built together in Albion. Justine passed away in 2004, and Warren in 2006.
Cliff adored his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He and his family spent more than 20 summers camping at the Potawatomie Campground where they made many dear friends and enjoyed story-telling by the campfire. He was a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees and the Green Bay Packers, and was thrilled to attend the Packers NFC Championship game in 2008. He also loved country music and going to Albion’s Moose Lodge #406, where he was known to enjoy the occasional Budweiser and also dancing to jukebox tunes like “Neon Moon” and “Old Time Rock N Roll.”
Cliff is survived by his two daughters, Jennifer Garvin and Karen (Steve) Zimmerman; six grandchildren, Chris (Holly) Rowley, Laurie (John Reynolds) Rowley, Nichole (Henry Garrett) Austin, Sara (Robert Henderson) Austin, Sara (Colin Roald) Garvin, and David Garvin; seven great-grandchildren, Alex (Ellie Seeley) Pratt, Xavier (Alexia) Pratt, Ellis Howard, Tyson Garrett, Brady Garrett, Xandon Slone, Conner Rowley, Miles Alexandre, Stella Alexandre, and George Alexandre; and four great-great grandchildren, Levi Pratt, Kyler Pratt, Christopher King, Noah King.
Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, November 5th from 1-7PM at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Dr., Albion. Services will be Friday, November 6, 2020 at the funeral home at 1PM with Pastor Allen Henson officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Concord.
For those who wish, the family suggests that any memorial gifts in Cliff’s honor be made to the Special Olympics of Michigan or to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
