

Dorothy Irene (Baty) Martin of Albion, MI passed away August 14, 2016 at Bronson At Home Hospice Residence surrounded by her family. Dorothy was the daughter of Harry and Edna (Holmes) Baty. She was born on July 12, 1930 in Marengo, MI. She wed Raymond Martin of Devereaux, MI on December 3, 1950. Together they were anticipating the celebration of their 66 wedding anniversary. She and her husband loved to camp and traveled throughout the United States. Dorothy was a homemaker and enjoyed cake baking and decorating, gardening, floral arrangement and caring for the neighbor’s children. She was well known for her extensive genealogy research and enjoyed Great Danes and St. Bernards having a total of 6 dogs over the years.
Dorothy is survived by her husband Ray, sister Jean Ott of Springport, MI, son Harry (Dawn) Martin of Albion, MI, granddaughter Sarah (Micah) Greiner of Buffalo Grove, IL., grandson, Eric Martin of Staunton, VA and great grandchildren, Eva and Andrew Greiner.
She was preceded in death by her brother Donald Baty.
Dorothy was a survivor of polio, contracting it at a young age and spent several months in an Ann Arbor hospital away from her family. Later she battled and won two bouts of breast cancer thirty years apart. She is remembered for her resilient spirt and hard work ethic.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday, August 16 from 6 – 8PM with a Funeral Service on Wednesday, August 17 at 1PM at the J Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Drive, Albion. Reverend Micah Greiner will officiate the service.
Interment to follow at King Cemetery, Devereaux.
