My condolences to you Kevin and Erik. Mr.Elston's passing really shocked me. I was a student at Holmes Elementary in Ypsilanti Mi. I will always remember him as a giant but stern giant. So much respect for this man. Words can't express my thoughts. Thank you Kevin and Erik for sharing such a great person. He always talked about his boys. Rest In Peace Mr.Elton Holmes School Alumni. You will be greatly missed.

Many thanks to those who expressed sympathy to Erik and I.  God certainly blessed us with wonderful parents (with a Godly legacy).  My son is named for my father (can't think of a better tribute).  The most telling thing I can think of is the phrase,"I wish you knew my father"

I miss dad, and mom, very much! My heart is broken, but I know dad is no longer in pain and he and mom are together once more!

Harold was a wonderful example of a man who lived his faith. He touched many lives with his loving, caring attitude and his down-to-earth guidance.  He was a humble man who was always kind and saw the best in everyone. He demonstrated great wisdom in his dealings with both children and adults and will be missed. I feel blessed to have known Harold and know that many others do too! My thoughts and prayers to all of you in your loss, and also in the recent passing of Doris. May God bless and comfort you.

I remember Mr. Elston as my principle.  He always made the right choices and always had a nice way about him.  To a child that is very important!  God be with the families that will miss him.

Eric and Kevin, Sorry for your loss.  We had many good times with your mom and dad and we did stop to see them a few years ago.  We attended Calvary Baptist with them and I also worked as a noon supervisor under Harold at Thurston School for a couple of years.  They are both home with the Lord now.  Dean and Shirley Reeds

I knew Harold and Doris all my life. Went to church with the family for many years. Sweet folks that loved the Lord. My prayers for Kevin, Eric and families.

Many memories of Mr. Elston from my childhood.  What a wonderful person he was.  Rest in Peace... Tell my dad (Robert Leighton) I love and miss him so much, when  you get heaven!

Mr. Elton was my principal at Thurston Elementary.  He was a kind a caring man and always looked up to him.

So sorry to read of Harold's passing. I also worked for WR for 30 years and remember him for all the kindness he showed everyone, kids, teachers, and all of us at WR.

My deepest sympathy on your loss.  Mr. Elston was my Sunday School teacher when I was a young girl at Calvary Baptist Church.  He was wonderful, dedicated and had such a kindness about him.

Mr Elston was my principal at Thurston Elementary from 1965-1971 He was a very great person and I have very fond memories of him!! I am so sorry for your loss he was loved by alot of kids!!

Mr. Easton was my principal at Holmes school.  He became more than an educator to our family,  he became a friend. God comfort your family.

Mr. Elston was my Principal for years at Holmes School and everyone of my Brothers and Sister loved him.  His family is in our prayers and thank you Mr. Elston for making us the people we are today.  Brett, Yvonne, Craig, Carrie & Kenny Coleman.

Mr Elston was my principal at Thurston Elementary School and my nephews  years later at Holmes School in Ypsilanti, MI. He was a good man and still remembered me when I saw him years later at Holmes. He will be missed

Wow Harold, you had the longest life of anybody who can ever imagine.  I was so devastated you lost your wife, just months, before you lost yourself. I remember Mr. Elston when he was the principle of Thurston Elementary School, I also remember the time he brought in slides of when he was in the Army and shared with our class, Great Man, Great Principle. My condolence to his family, he'll truly be missed.

Mr Elston had a lasting impact on my life growing up in the Calvary Baptist Church. He and Doris set great examples to the many children and young people they faithfully served. My condolences to the family.
