

He was a retired fire chief, having served in that capacity in Albion, Michigan; Dyersburg, Tennessee; Bensenville, Illinois and Lauderdale Lakes, Florida. He was a veteran having served in the U. S. Navy during WWII on board the USS PC1171 and PC1169. He returned to the Navy during the Korean Conflict and served on the USS LST 602 and LST 1032. At the age of 42 he received his high school diploma from Albion High School, Albion Michigan, at 54 he graduated from Triton Community College, River Grove, Illinois with an Associate’s Degree in Fire Service with a 4.0 GPA. Then at 55, he graduated from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, Illinois with a B.S. degree in Fire Science with a 4.0 GPA. He is a life member of Elks Lodge #1798, Patrol Craft Association of America, International Fire Chief's association and the American Legion. He was a member and past Master of Free and Accepted Masons, Hess Lodge #93 Dyersburg, Tennessee and Murat Lodge #14 Albion, Michigan. He was also a member of Homer, Michigan Humanity Lodge #98, Royal Arch Masons of Dyersburg, Tennessee, St. Albion’s Lodge #20, Marshall, Michigan. In 2008 he received the "Order of the Purple Cross" which is the highest honor given by the York Rite Bodies of North America. In 2007, he was named one of the five Albion High School Distinguished Alumni. He is a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Dyersburg, Tennessee and was also a past president of the Newbern Lions Club.
Survivors include his two daughters; Patricia Anderson (Leonard) of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Sheryl Dowding (David) of Marshall, Michigan; three grandsons, Craig Anderson (Michelle) of Dyer, Tennessee, Scott Sands of Marshall, Michigan and Chad Sands of Magadore, Ohio; three great-grandchildren, Daniel Braden Cupples, Chloe Raianne Anderson, Jensyn Kynlee Anderson; special friends Doug (Ruthann) Anderson of Rives Junction, Michigan and several nieces and nephews. Mr. White was preceded in death by his wife Geraldine Morgan White, one daughter Pamela Ann White and his parents Carey Stanton and Bertha Conkey White.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday November 2, 2015 at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home,
811 Finley Drive, Albion, Michigan with Pastor Walt Nichols Jr. officiating. Interment to follow at Albion Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday, November 1, 2015 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM with a Masonic Service being held at 4:00 PM at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home in Albion, Michigan.
